How dogsafefoodlist.xyz handles data, cookies and advertising, including Google AdSense cookie disclosure and your opt-out rights.
Effective date: 24 October 2026 · Last updated: 24 October 2026
This policy explains what information is collected when you visit dogsafefoodlist.xyz, why it is collected, and what choices you have. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
1. Who we are
Dog Safe Food List is an independent educational website publishing reference material about foods that are safe or unsafe for dogs. The data controller for this site can be reached at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Information you give us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply and to consider the food or correction you raised. We do not add you to a mailing list without your explicit request.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical data in server logs: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, the pages requested and the time of the request. This is used for security, troubleshooting and aggregate traffic analysis.
Local browser storage. The site's interactive tools — the food filter and the treat calculator — run entirely in your browser. They do not transmit your inputs to us, and no input is stored on our servers.
3. Cookies and advertising
This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
Third-party ad vendors and networks may also use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to measure ad effectiveness and to serve relevant advertising. We do not control those cookies; you can manage them through your browser settings or the opt-out links above. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from reading any page on this site.
Where required by law, a consent message is displayed before non-essential cookies are set, and you may change or withdraw your choice at any time through that message.
4. Analytics
If analytics are enabled, they are configured to collect aggregated data — page views, approximate region, device type — rather than to identify individuals. We do not attempt to link analytics data to any person, and we do not sell it.
5. Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK visitors)
- Legitimate interests — operating a secure website, preventing abuse, and understanding aggregate usage.
- Consent — for advertising cookies and any non-essential tracking, which you may refuse or withdraw.
- Contract — where you email us and we reply.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.
7. Data retention
Emails are kept for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any follow-up, and are deleted when no longer useful. Server logs are retained by the hosting provider for a limited period for security purposes. We do not maintain a marketing database.
8. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
Our hosting and advertising providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
10. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. We use security headers, restrict the scripts that may run on the page, and keep the codebase free of third-party scripts other than the advertising tag. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet.
11. External links
We link to veterinary and regulatory sources for reference. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the effective date at the top of the page is updated and the change is described here. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
